Palm Room
This is the architectural climax of the ground floor rooms and an elegant reception venue. During the summer months the French doors allow access to the Terrace.
The Palm Room is where gentlemen would have retired after dinner, whilst the ladies processed upstairs to Lady Spencer’s Room. The unique architecture with carved and gilded palm trees is based on John Webb’s design for the King’s bedchamber at Greenwich Palace.
The room’s spectacular yet intimate setting lends itself to charming arrangements such as recitals for 40 guests or for an area with a string quartet to lead guests, through the ground floor rooms, to this magnificent setting.
